We participate in a variety of projects important to our community, through fundraising efforts and volunteering, we seek to assist those in need.
Christmas Hampers:
Some of the money that is collected by Acocks Green Lions goes to provide Christmas hampers for deserving people in the Acocks Green area. Each year goods are purchased and made up into approximately fifty hampers, which are then personally delivered by individual Lions. We aim to provide some basic food items plus a few treats and to ensure that the recipients know that they are being thought of at this special time of year.
Santa Visits:
We tow our sleigh to the Acocks Green area and make door to door collections with Santa. Which helps raise fund for other projects.On two Saturdays we collect in the Center of Acocks Green. One evening, we vist a local home for young people delivering a small gift. In addition, we collect one evening assisted by the students of Ninestiles School an Academy.
Afternoon Tea / New Year's Lunch:
Afternoon tea is held at Ninestiles School, where entertainment is provided by talented students from the school. In addition, the vistiors enjoy Bingo and a raffel. Lunch is provided and served to the vistors by the Lions.
New Year's lunch is held at Fox Hollies Forum. Where fish and chip supper followed by a dessert is enjoyed by all invited.
Coach Trips:
Trips for schools and pensioners groups are provided the fund to hire coaches.
Specific Requests:
These vary from sponsering local tallented youth for overseas projects to support for international competitions.
