Meetings

At a recent meeting of the Aston Lions Club our speakers were Karen Newburg and Lindsey Wiley.  They spoke on the Pennell Elementary School's Autistic Support and Life Skills Program.  They have needs for several items for their classrooms.  The Aston Lions and Williamson Trade School are working on a project to aid these teachers and students.  If you would like to contribute to this worthy cause, call one of these teachers at Pennell Elementary School.

The Lions continue to loan walkers, wheel chairs, canes, and other medical equipment.  Very few days go by without someone getting a LOAN OF SOME PIECE OF EQUIPMENT.  NO CHARGE, IF YOU WISH YOU MAY MAKE A DONATION IT WILL BE APPRECIATED.  LIONS DO NOT RECEIVE ANY REMUNERATION FOR THESE SERVICES.

Lions Honor our Man In Blue, Joseph Hart as Aston Townships Policeman of the Year.  Officer Hart was introduced by Police Chief (Lion) Dan Ruggieri.  The Lions presented the Chief with a check for $200.

At a recent meeting, the Aston Lions honored the Aston Township Fire Deparments Fire Person of the Year, Scott Jones (accepted by his Mother, Cathy Jones-Shortlidge) and EMT of the year, Mitch Holobowicz.  President, Mike Pertillo presented Chief, Mike Evans a check in the amount of $400 for use as the ATFD choses.  (See photo page for photos.)

We have been loaning hospital equipment for many years.  If you know anyone in need, see our contact page.

If you have students at Sun Valley High School, the Leo Club is looking for any students wishing to serve the school community and surrounding areas. The Leo Club visited Fair Acres and played bingo and awarded prizes to some of the residents.

You may have noted that the Aston Lions Club do not have their "White Cane Days" in October.  In lieu of these days, many businesses have permitted the club to put collection containers in their places of business.

Please support our blind projects by placing a donation in our containers.
