FAQ ABOUT THE BISMARCK LIONS CLUB . . .
WHAT DO LIONS DO?……
*Since our club was organized in 1921, we have given back over $500,000 to the
City of Bismarck and the World in support of community and youth initiatives.
*Lions collects over 7,000,000 used eyeglasses worldwide each year and
distributes them in developing countries in Central and South America.
*We provide free eye exams and glasses for the less fortunate in our area.
*We help pay the $35,000 cost of placing a leader dog with a blind person at
no cost to the recipient.
*We support programs for our youth such as the St. Mary’s Super Saints
Leo Club and the Central Dakota Children’s Choir.
*We helped pay for 3,200,000 cornea transplants in Asia and Africa last year.
*The International Association contributed $3,000,000 toward Red River flood
relief in 1997.
*The Lions of North Dakota raised $60,000 for Katrina disaster relief in 2005.

WHAT’S THE COST TO JOIN? ……
Our dues are $85 per quarter which includes meal costs.

HOW MUCH OF MY TIME WILL IT TAKE? ……
You can get involved as much or as little as you wish. Some of our members just
pay their dues and do little more. It’s their way of “giving back”. Others spend
great amounts of time doing Lions work.
HOW DO WE PAY FOR ALL THAT WE DO? ……
*We sell high quality trash bags.
*We have corn-on-the-cob food booths at Capital A’Fair, Downtowners Street Fair and Art in the Park Festival in Mandan.
*We cooperate with and work at Papa’s Pumpkin Patch.
*We sponsor Westlake Events, a live stage presentation designed for children and adults.
WHAT SERVICES DO WE PROVIDE IN THE COMMUNITY? ……
*We help sponsor Lions Hillside Park in Bismarck.
*We help the Salvation Army with their bell ringing program at Christmas time.
*We helped to build two $10,000 shelters at the Lewis and Clark Interpretativ Center near Washburn.
*We volunteer to deliver Meals on Wheels in Bismarck.
*Tiger Woods gives back---Tiger Woods Foundation for inner city kids.
*Harold Schafer gave back---Medora is now a North Dakota gem.
*Lion Jimmy Carter gives back---Habitat for Humanity housing project.
*Governor Art Link said: “Everyone should be a member of a service organization and give back to their community”.
