Upcoming Event (Thursday December 8):  Come help raise money for the Lions Children's Eye Clinic at the University of Minnesota by visiting Potbellys Sandwich Shop in Coon Rapids! For dine-in or take out orders placed between 5:00 PM and 8:00 PM on Thursday December 8th, the Minnesota Lions Vision Foundation will received 25% of your order for this important cause. The Coon Rapids Lions Club is hosting this event and invites you all to and share in the fun. Information and prizes will be available. Please help support this clinic which treats over 8,000 patients each year with vision issues. We hope to see you there!    Come out and see Lion Tim Woodworth and his crew help support this Lions project. There will be information available, some freebies and please feel free to bring any used eyewear or hearing aids you might have lying around the house. Potbelly is also collecting toys for Sharing and Caring Hands so, if you are inclined to do so, please bring an unwrapped new toy, too.

Saturday, December 10th we will be bell ringing for the Salvation Army at Cub Foods off Northdale and Hanson!  Come out and say Hi!  (and if you bring coffee/hot chocolate, we would be ok with that too!)

January 13-15, 2017 - Our annual Mid-Winter Convention is coming up quickly!  This is a fun and rewarding experience at the Bloomington Marriott next to Mall of America From January 13 through January 15.   Fridaynight will be the Opening CeremonyMemorial Service, and socializing at various club hospitality rooms.    There are three interesting seminars Saturday morning.  One is a double corneal transplant, one is a leader dog recipient, and the other is two Leader Dog puppy raisers. Then we have the noon Luncheon, A business meeting, and in the evening the Governors Banquet.  Sunday morning is a breakfast buffet with another speaker from Can-Do Canines.   Door prizes are drawn at each meal.  So this is a weekend packed full of Lions events and a great way to  meet with Lions of other clubs in our district!   There is no charge to attend the convention, but the group meals must be purchased in  advance.   I need to order all meals byDecember 15, so please let me know ASAP.   Late orders cost additional money.    For those of you who will spend the whole weekend at the convention (many of us do that!), please see  phone number attached and procedure to reserve a room.

Started in 1954, The Coon Rapids Lions Club has been a vital part of the City and surrounding area. The Coon Rapids Lions Club has been serving this area longer than any other service organization in the community and five years prior to the incorporation of the City of Coon Rapids.

We, the Lions, enjoy working to better the lives and well-being of all people in our community through the education and research programs the Lions sponsor for sight, hearing and diabetes.

Lions also distribute glasses and fund medical programs for the prevention and relief of river blindness and raise funds for disaster relieve around the world.

Locally, Coon Rapids Lions volunteer at, and raise funds for, local organizations such as the ACBC Emergency Food Shelf, Alexandra House Women's Shelter and Stepping Stone Homeless Shelter, the Mercy Hospital Wellness Van, Can-Do Canines and Feed My Starving Children.

The Lions motto is “We Serve”.

Our mission statement is “To empower volunteers to serve their communities, meet humanitarian needs, encourage peace and promote international understanding through Lions Clubs”.
