SAVE THE TREES For the pages of

The President and members of Lions Club of  Madras Greater are proud to declare that we are the First Paperless Club in the District 324-A1, by using WMMR, Email Invitations, SMS Reminders and Yahoo Groups Discussions right from the Year 2005-2006.

The club is happy that we are contributing our bit in Reversing Global Warming with the following advantages:

  • SAVE THE TREES
For the pages of circulars month after month that we hold in our hand, a tree has been cut somewhere. Let's do our bit in saving the trees by minimizing the use of paper.

  • REDUCE WASTE
In an age of accumulating more waste than the earth can handle and desecrating it into bio-degradable or not, let's come up with 'no waste'!

  • REVERSE GLOBAL WARMING
Saving the trees and reducing waste are small but crucial factors in reversing the looming threat of global warming. Let's leave a healthy and environment friendly world for our children.

Besides being environment friendly, Email Communications and Yahoo Groups Discussions are faster means of 2 way communications.  Email needs to be sent just to one email address, for eg. madrasgreater@yahoogroups.com and the mail is instantly delivered to all the members of the Group.  Besides, when some one is replying, even the reply is delivered to all the members of the Group.  So, all the members of the Club are fully aware of the discussions going on and it indirectly promotes the friendship and fellowship among the members.

Barring one or two members who were not computer savvy, the Club successfully managed to avoid using papers as far as possible.  The Club even passed a Resolution to send all circulars though Email / Yahoo Group only, thereby saving the cost of printing, stationary and courier charges besides saving the time and labour in these processes.

The Yahoo Group website of our Club is available on this link http://groups.yahoo.com/group/madrasgreater/ and the access is limited to the members of Lions Club of Madras Greater only.
