ANNUAL EYE & HEALTH SCREENING

IMMOKALEE, FLORIDA

Adult Vision and Health Screening is done in Immokalee, FL. Lions Clubs of Dist. 35-I lead by Dist Gov. John Carbaugh, conducts our Annual Vision-Health Program at the Guadalupe Center in Immokalee. Between 200 and 400 adults are screened for Diabetes, Hypertension, Vision Abnormalities, Glaucoma, etc. Eye glasses are given to needy residents free of charge from donated glasses given to Lions Clubs. In 2010-11 screenings will be held Sunday December 5th and Sunday January 30th and Sunday April 3rd.  Many Lions from District 35-I volunteer for these screenings as well as student nurses from Edison College. 105 Volunteer workers--- Lions Clubs represented--Bonita Springs, Estero So.Ft.Myers, Ft. Myers High Noon, Lehigh Acres, Lehigh Nites, Marco Island, Naples Nites, Naples Lions Club.

Friends of the Congressional Glaucoma Caucus Foundation. Collier County Health Dept. Senior Friendship Center, Medical Dental Clinic of Naples, Prevent Blindness of Florida, Medical Students from Florida State University, Social Service Agency of Immokalee, Guadalupe Center of Immokalee, Retinal Specialist (Dr Patel), Opticians from Lenscrafters. and five retired ophthalmologists -- and a special thanks to the Interperters and community workers.

PEDIATRIC AND VISION AND HEARING SCREENINGS

The Naples Lions club works together with the Early Learning Coalition of SW Florida to screen preschool children ages 2-5 in day care centers in Collier and Lee Counties. Last year we screened 890 children and found 43 children who were referred for complete eye and/or hearing examinations. This will catch Amblyopia "Lazy Eye" at an early age and allow easier and more complete treatment and vision recovery.

17th Annual Golf Tournament

Lion Jack Arvold is chairman of our 15th Annual Golf Tournament co-sponsored by the Naples and the Naples Nites Lions Clubs, to be held Sunday March 6th at The Golf Lodge at the Quarry on Immokalee Road at 1:00 pm. Entry fee $100.00 per person includes Golf, Cart, Lunch, awards and prizes. Golfers are invited to support our major fundraiser and play a round at the exceptional Quarry Course.
