One of our past service projects was "Be A Friend" by purchasing and placing Friendship Benches at various schools in the Peoria School System. The benches, approximate cost of $1,000 each, are made of recycled plastics and are guaranteed to last 50 years.
Our accomplished goal: Place a Friendship Bench in every grade school throughout Peoria.
The program provided reading "The Friendship Bench" book at a student assembly. Followed by ribbon cutting ceremony and a special appearance by our "LEO" the LION. Children were asked to sign a pledge poster in their classrooms to "be Friends". By doing this we helped the Peoria School District with their "Stop Bullying" incentive.
