Welcome to the Home Page of the Pinelands Lions - from Pinelands in Cape Town, South Africa.

The Lions Club of Pinelands was chartered in 1961 and celebrated its' 50th birthday on the 24th October 2011.  As part of this celebration the club awarded a Louis Volkes Humitarian Service award to Liet. Ian Bennett of the Manenberg Police department and made a donation of R5000 to the Police Widows and Orphans Fund. Lions Clubs International is the world's largest service club organisation, with 45,000 clubs and 1.35 million members worldwide.

Lions Clubs around the world work tirelessly to uplift those less fortunate, help people with disabilities and address needs within the wider community.

In this respect, Pinelands Lions have undertaken projects such as: arranging bingo and refreshments for seniors, organising eye tests and spectacles for those who cannot afford them, donating Valentine’s Day presents to women and children from a shelter for the abused, collecting spectacle frames are are re-used, donating items to make the transport lounge at Groote Schuur Hospital a more comfortable space and working at Stop Hunger Now events making up meal packs.

The Club is always looking for new members and new ideas so we are appealing to you, the community, to step up. We are a family oriented club and aim to do projects which your family can participate in. We appeal to you not to be the kind of person who thinks “Someone else will do it.”

One of our Past Presidents, Lion Shannon Filmer has been the Zone Chairman for 2010/2011, overseeing the clubs in her Zone (Cape Town, Groote Schuur, Sea Point and, of course, Pinelands). She is currently the President of the Club and committed to leading the Club to serve the community.
