President : King Lion Farhad Niami

Dr. Farhad Niami is the Director of the Economic Affairs for the District of Columbia government. Prior to that, he served as State Economist and Economic Advisor to the Governor of Louisiana. Dr. Niami has been an active member of the Potomac Lions Club (PLC) since 2013. He is also active on a number of other non-profit boards.

First Vice President- Lion Amir Fouladgar

Lion Amir Fouladgar, PE has worked for over four decades as a Structural Engineer. He attained his degree in this field in the UK. He is a registered Professional Engineer in 18 US States and active in several professional and civic organizations. He has held prominent positions as a partner at several international engineering &architectural firms. He is currently VP at Hardesty & Hanover Engineers.

Second Vice President- Lion Shahla Sarfaraz

Lion Shahla Sarfaraz is an energetic and effective professional with 20 years of experience with proven track record of success in the field of education and childhood counseling. Her career has spanned multiple disciplines and professional positions including 15 years middle-school teacher for gifted children as well as 3 years as the principal of Koroush Kabir School in Iran. She has served on the board of Potomac Lions Club for three years . She is founder and current president of the National University of Iran Alumni and Faculty Association (NUIAF).

Ms. Sarfaraz earned her Bachelor’s Degree in psychology from Melli University of Iran in 1974 and received her Master’s Degree in Counseling from Trabiat Moallem University in 1979. Shahla immigrated to United States in 1982 and is currently working as a successful real-estate agent in Washington, DC metropolitan area. She has following credentials:

Secretary- Lion Hosein Moraveji

Lion Hosein Moraveji, PE has served as the president and a three term secretary of PLC. He is a charter member of Potomac Lions Club. His tenure saw a significant growth of this club. He is a retired Professional Engineer with 45 year long track record of running his company or serving a top-tier Mechanical Engineer in firms in the National Capital Area.

Treasurer - Lion Cyrus Bathai

Lion Cyrus Bathai is a Charter Member and former President of the Potomac Lions Club (PLC). He is a Financial Consultant with over 25 years of experience in the field. He is a longtime resident of the National Capital Area and is active at several professional associations and local and national Charities. KL Cyrus served his third term as president with outstanding leadership and dedication to our club.

Director- Lion Mehrdad Massumi

Dr. Mehrdad Michael Massumi (MD) is a board-certified specialist in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation and Pain Management. He is a member of the Harvard Postgraduate Medical Association. He is based in Rockville and Towson, MD. He is active at the Montgomery county Maryland and Maryland state medical societies as well as at the national academies in his specialties.

Director- Lion Sam Hashemi

Lion Sam Hashemi has over 30 years of experience in business development and management in large companies. He applies his extensive experience and expertise as part of Nerve, Bone and Joint, Inc. (NBJI) business administration team to facilitate and ensure the best patient experience. Sam holds a master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and MBA. He also completed the academic requirements for his PhD in Engineering Administration at GWU.

Dr. Kalantari has been an Adjunct Associate Professor of Finance and Accounting at the University of Maryland at College Park: Robert Smith School of Business (MBA), University of Maryland University College, and Montgomery College with concentration in: Capital Markets, Business Finance, Personal Finance, and Healthcare Finance. King Lion Ali is retired from the World Bank Group and has been on the Board of Directors and served as the First Vice President and the Treasurer of the Potomac Lions Club Foundation since 2013.

Founder/ Past President- Ali Agha Khan- 2007-2008

Mike Agha-khan is the founder of PLC. He has over 25 years of experience in the commercial and public sectors. His expertise is in support of technical and business management, new business development, program management, systems engineering and delivery of complex Telecommunication Systems, Cyber Security, and Satellite systems operation. He has a bachelor’s in Engineering from OSU and an MS in IT Systems from Johns Hopkins University. Mike is a philanthropist at heart and remains engaged in philanthropic initiatives regularly.

King Lion Shohreh Tofanian has served as president of Potomac Lions Club during the 2009-2010 session. She was one a Charter Member and devoted her time and energy fairly and readily to the advancement of our club.

Past President- Kambiz Molkara- 2011-2012

King Lion Kambiz Molkara is a Charter Member and past President of PLC. He has lived in the National Capital Area since the late 1970s. He was an auditor for the DC Public Service Commission in 1980s. He has held several managerial positions in Security, Facility and Support services at PEPCO. He has led the PLC services to the Montgomery County, Maryland homeless shelters which PLC serves.

Past President- Majid Zarrinbakhsh- 2012-2014

Lion Majid Zarrinbakhsh is a Charter Member and former two term president of Potomac Lions Club. He serves as CEO and President of Business, Medical, and Dental Brokerage and M&A advisory firm in Bethesda. He provides and overseas Business Funding, Sales, Valuation, and Acquisition services. He served as president of two multi unit companies, taught finance and business law in college, and as CFO of BMW. He has MBA in finance and a BA in accounting.
