Professional’s Opinion:

We consulted a professional photographer Michael Parkingson about all submitted photos. From his perspective, the top three voted photos are over-processed, but the Photo #18 by Brittany and the Photo #20 by Maddy stand out from his judge.

Final decision:

Even though the professional photographer is in favor of the Photo #18 and the Photo #20, they are not as popular as the top ones among students. The aim of this photo contest is to choose photos that students like even though they are not professional. To make a final decision, the top three voted (public votes and Facebook votes) photos become the winner of this photos contest and will be printed on postcards. They are the followings:

Photo #9 by Haoran

Photo #10 by Nicole

Photo #1 by Britany

March, 2014

We are currently organizing a fundraising event, Capture Queen’s U, throughout the year 2014. In this event, a photo contest about Queen’s experience will be organized first, with a submission period from February 10th to March 14th. A Facebook vote will be run simultaneously during the submission period. Besides this vote, a public vote will be organized right after the submission period. Winners will be generated according to the results from the Facebook and public vote and opinions from our Photo Contest Advisor, Mike, a professional photographer at Queen’s. Here is the detail of this contest. And here is the poster we used.

The photo submission ended on March 14th 2014. Over 50 photos were submitted for the contest, and 35 preselected photos were posted on Facebook Page: Capture Queen's U. Among these 35 photos, 23 was printed and displayed in our public vote on March 19th 2014.

Shortly after this vote, we will consult our Photo Contest Advisor about submitted photos, and winners will be generated before 2014 Winter Term ends.

In our second step, winning photos will be printed on post cards during this summer.

In our last step, these post cards will be sold at the beginning of next school year, and all our net revenues will be donated to CNIB.
