The Rochester '76 Lions club was chartered in December of 1975. We are a club of about 25 active members that have a special interest in service. The Rochester '76 Lions club is a part of Lions Clubs International. Lions is a service organization that has Preservation of Sight and Preservation of Hearing as major national service goals. Newly added goals include Diabetes research and Childhood Cancer.

Formed in 1917, Lions were challenged by Helen Keller to be "...Knights of the Blind..."

The Rochesrer '76 Lions Club supports the service goals of Lions Clubs International by providing financial support to the Minnesota Lions Vision Foundation, the Minnesota Lions Diabetes Foundation, and the Minnesota Lions Childhood Cancer Foundation.

Lions clubs throughout the world are organized into Districts by country and other geographical considerations.

The Rochester '76 Lions Club is a part of a larger governing body called District 5M-1.  District 5M1 include eight counties in Southeast Minnesota; roughly, everything south and east of a line fron Redwing, Minnesota to Auastin, Minnesota. There are 11 other districts in Multiple District 5M, which includes all of the state of Minnesota, Manitoba and the northwestern part of Ontario in Canada.

 

Lions Clubs International is the world's largest service club organization with more than 1.4 million members in approximately 46,000 clubs in more than 200 countries and geographical areas around the world.
