                             Story Time

In April 2013, Wadensville Lions Club began offering a reading  program  for young children.   Story  Time is held  at either the Wardensville Library or Baker Park, in Baker, WV, every  Friday morning at  11:00 am. The children participate in a  game followed by a story read by a special guest reader.  After the story there is a craft activity and a snack.  As the children leave they are given a copy of the book read that day to take home with them to keep in their personal library.   Contact Patty Austin:  pmoffettaustin @gmail.com to request a weekly email invite to the program.

Wardensville Lions Club participates in the Lions Youth Camps and Exchange program.   West Virginia Lions Clubs receive students from around the world and provides opportunities for WV students to travel abroad.  Students 16-21 years old are eligible to apply through the District 29-I website.  Select the link to go to the WV Lions Club website then scroll down to the Youth Camps and Exchange page.

McKinna Poling of District 29-I was selected to travel abroad on a Youth Camps & Exchange scholarship.

Watch now as McKinna tells you about her trip to Austria.

If you would like to consider being a host family for a youth from another country please contact Henry Krautwurst - 301-467-1032.  Lions youth exchange students will live with a host family for a period of 4-6 weeks during the summer.  Students from Australia generally come during December and students from Peru come during the January February months.  Don't be afraid to encounter an experience that will forever enrich your life and that of a visiting youth.

Quartets on Parade

Featuring the Blue and Gray Chorus from Inwood, WV

May 18, 2024 - 7:00 pm

Wardensville United Methodist Church

THE BLUE & GREY CHORUS is the Inwood, West Virginia chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society (BHS).  Founded in 2002, the club began meeting in the Chorus room of Musselman High School, Inwood, WVA.   We’re now in our 23rd year, and still going strong!  Our chapter is a fellowship devoted to the art of a cappella barbershop singing, great musical performance, and community goodwill. The Blue and Grey Chorus takes great pride in supporting the Musselman High School Art Programs, and has  donated over $38,000 since formation in 2002. We have 18 singers on our roster, men and women who hail from a wide range of current or past occupations. The chorus regularly performs for civic events, festivals, retirement communities, veterans organizations, and private functions.

The quartet Ricochet has been singing together since late 2019, practicing first in a local VFW Hall, then shifting to an outdoors pavilion as a pandemic precaution.  All four guys are members of The Blue & Grey Inwood Chorus.   The foursome manages to keep pretty busy with sing-outs for local schools, libraries, picnics, church events and, of course, Singing Valentines.

The Wardensville Lions Club has been dedicated, for over 75 years, to serving the Hardy County Community; specifically the Wardensville, Baker, Mathias and Moorefield communities and all the rural area spread among them.

We provide community service directly through our members’ efforts, and indirectly through fund-raising. We are a member of the world’s largest service club organization, the International Association of Lions Clubs.  As a member, we participate in assistance efforts after such disasters as 1985 WV flood, 9/11/2001, Hurricane Katrina, and Japan’s earthquake and tsunami as well as other projects benefitting communities across West Virginia.
