Meetings

We are looking into strategies to add to our roster so that we can continue to do the work necessary in the community.  We are meeting at the Wellington Town Hall where we are able to provide our own meals, etc.

Also, since several other members become snow birds in February it was decided to skip the month of February in our Lions Year and add July and August which are busy months for us.

Cherry Valley Lions Club has asked us to help out with their Vision Screening program, so we have accepted that challenge.

Lion President Harry has accepted the invitation to facilitate the Second Vice District Officers Training in Markham in March and the Presidents Workshop in Cobourg in May.  PID Lion Terry Graham will be part of the team at the Club Officers Training.

Our club has decided to work on the Tree Planting innitiative in our area.  Lions Bill Boultbee and Wilf Durham are chairing the committee to get this done.  About $900 worth of trees have already been ordered to be planted sometime this spring.

The Wellington Lions Dragon Boat Club is gearing up for action by having a meeting at the Town Hall to make plans for the time when the ice is off the lake.  They are anxious to start exercising and practising for festivals in Ontario.

Over the last several years, our club has raised almost $75,000 of the Lions Foundation of Canada Dog Guides. We hold an annual Walk for Dog Guides in conjunction with the Pumpkinfest parade.  Dog guides are provided free of charge to Canadians with disabilities.  The Foundation does not recevie government funding so our walk and others like it across the country are an essential part of the funds needed to provide this service.  You can find information about the 5 dog guide programs  at www.dogguidescom. Join us with or without your dog on Saturday, October 13, 2012. Pledge forms will be available soon and you can also register as a walker on line( www.purinawalkfordogguides.com ) and start your support of our Walk today.
