OFFICIAL MINUTES OF REGULAR CLUB MEETINGS

The regular meeting of the _____Altura____________________ Lions Club was called to order on Monday, April 6, 2026                       by President Bridget Gibbs__________________________

at ___6:30 p.m. at the ___Altura Community Center with those members in attendance as shown on the Attendance Record and Guest Register.

President Bridget Gibbs called the meeting to order with the pledge of allegiance.  David Schwantz made a motion to approve the agenda, Marlene Spencer seconded. Motion carried.

The secretary’s report of the meeting of March 2, 2026 was read.  Steve Pasche made a motion to approve, Pat Schlichenmeyer seconded, motion carried,

The treasurer’s report was read.  Peggy Pasche made a motion to approve, Pat Schlichenmeyer seconded, motion carried.

Old Business:

Phil Kalmes reported that he currently has the forms and money from 16 individuals that enlisted in the Fly the Flag program. 

Roadside cleanup is scheduled for Sunday, April 19 meeting at 1:30 at the city parking lot.  After that the plan is to go door-to-door to see if there are other individuals who would like to display the flag on their yards.

We discussed a possible date for the chicken Q fund raiser and have selected August 8 as our first choice pending confirmation that Cory Potter can grill and the community center is available.

We discussed having a sesquicentennial gathering at Memorial Park on July 4.  This was tabled until the May meeting to see if there will be any other event planned that day and location.

New Business:

Phil Schwantz nominated Phil Kalmes as 2nd Vice-President, Mike Lovlien seconded, motion carried.  There will be Officer’s Training in Stewartville at their Civic Center May 19 at 6 p.m.

Scholarship applications were received.  The committee selected 4 winners.  Marlene Spencer will plan to make the presentations on May 6.

Phil Schwantz made a motion to send Terry Schultz $300 to help with expenses following his heart attack.  Nathan Gibbs seconded, motion carried.

Joe Schlichenmeyer reported that District 5M1 has a $1000 grant to do PR with ads hoping to attract more community members to become Lions.  We also tentatively plan to hold a membership event at our October 5th meeting.
