Collecting School Supplies for Children in Need

The Auburn Lions Club will collect school supplies for students in need of Auburn Elementary School on Saturday, August 5, from 4-8 p.m., at the Auburn Civic Center in conjunction with the Auburn National Night Out Against Crime.  We will "Stuff the Bus" with supplies donated by Auburn community residents.  For a complete list of school supply needs visit the USD 437 website at usd437.net and select Auburn Elementary School.  Thank you in advance for your kind contribution.

Free Secure Shred Day

The Auburn Lions Club and Land-mark National Bank is sponsoring a free secure shred day on Saturday, September 23, from 12 noon to 2 p.m. at the bank, 1741 N. Washing-ton Street.

Each year individuals and house-holds accumulate many personal financial and health documents which require secure disposal to prevent Identity Theft.

Each car is limited to five boxes or bags of personal documents. The public need not worry about removing staples or paper clips, or burning up their personal shred-der. Professional shredding equip-ment will take care of them.

The event is supported in part by FreeState Electric Cooperative and the Auburn Animal Clinic. Collec-tion and shredding will be by Docu-ment Resources, a Division of Underground Vaults & Storage.

Diabetes Awareness Program

The Auburn Lions Club is sponsoring a Diabetes Awareness Seminar on Mon-day, September 25, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Auburn Civic Center, 1020 N. Washington Street. There will be a variety of printed materials, snacks, etc. While still in the planning stages, community partners in the health field are being sought for participation. One partner already on board is Jenny Craig with diabetic-friendly meal plans and foods. See the next issue of the Auburn News for more information. Questions? Call Mary Adkins at 256-7274.
