Quarter Auction

The Barre Lions Club is having a fundraising event called a QUARTER AUCTION on Saturday, February 28, 2026, at the Barre Town Hall, 2 Exchange St in Barre at 1:00pm. A quarter auction is a combination of a vendor fair, auction, and raffle. Here’s the concept: - People purchase numbered paddle(s) upon entering the building. - They shop with the vendors before the auction and during intermission. - At auction time, each vendor is required to come to the microphone and tell the crowd what their item is. This means you must donate at least one item to our general auction. You state the value of the item. The bidders put quarters that correspond with the price of the item in a bowl on the table. For example, if an item is valued at $10, they put 1 quarter in the bowl. $20 = 2 quarters. $30 = 3 quarters. $40 = 4 quarters. No more than 4 quarters can be bid even if the item is valued at higher than that. - The emcee pulls a number from a bucket and whoever has that numbered paddle wins the item. This goes on until each vendor has given away one item. - Then it’s time for intermission. We will encourage people to shop. Another thing: we will be having a ‘super raffle’ and anyone who purchases an item from a vendor will receive a special raffle ticket (which we will supply to you) to be used only for the super raffle. This will encourage more people to shop. - After intermission we have round 2 of auctions. Same rules apply except this time the vendor receives all the quarters that are bid on their item. Round 2 is optional for vendors who want to participate.
