Our service projects support each of the Lions International global causes—diabetes, hunger, vision, environment, and childhood cancer—while championing collective well-being. We celebrate the rich diversity of cultures and backgrounds that make Sunset Park unique, ensuring that our service meets the needs of all residents.
Our signature projects include:

Community Health & Resource Fair – Provides community members with free health screenings, demonstrations, information, and resources, including vision and diabetes screenings, free eyeglasses, and no-cost breast cancer screenings through our partnership with the American-Italian Cancer Foundation.

Backpack Giveaway & Summer Outing – Family-friendly summer activities that provide backpacks filled with school supplies to local school children.

Thanksgiving Food & Turkey Drive – Distributes turkeys, fresh vegetables, and canned goods to community members.

Gift of Giving – A collaborative toy drive with Gift of Giving LLC, the High School of Telecommunication Arts & Technology, Dyker Beach Golf Club, Casper’s Cuts, and local businesses, delivering gifts to children living in temporary housing in our local schools.

Fiesta de los Tres Reyes Magos – A Three Kings Day celebration that highlights the journey of the Magi, honors cultural traditions, and features traditional foods, Rosca de Reyes, toys for children, parrandas, music, dancing, and a visit with the Tres Reyes.

Multicultural Lunar New Year Celebration – A collaboration with Team Up NY that celebrates the arrival of spring and the start of a new lunar year.

Young Leaders in Service Awards – Recognizes and provides monetary scholarships to local students who have demonstrated leadership and service to their school and community. We also honor outstanding educators through our Educator of the Year Award.
