CLERC – Canadian Lions Eyeglass Recycling Centre

CLERC — the Canadian Lions Eyeglass Recycling Centre — is a long-standing service initiative supported by Lions across Alberta. Members of the Calgary Southridge Lions Club volunteer at the Centre, where we help clean, sort, measure, and prepare donated eyeglasses for reuse.

Once processed, these glasses are shipped to countries where access to basic vision care is limited. A simple pair of lenses can help someone read, work, study, and regain independence in daily life.

AGLC Casino Volunteers – Calgary Southridge Lions Club

Our AGLC casino, held approximately every 18 months, is one of the Calgary Southridge Lions Club’s most important fundraising events. Over two days, our members along with community volunteers who generously step in to help staff the required casino positions including cashiers, chip runners, and count room support.

These volunteer efforts directly determine the funds we receive through AGLC, allowing us to support local community needs, Calgary based programs, and broader Lions initiatives such as Dog Guides and CLERC.

Casino volunteering is a meaningful way to give back. Whether you are a club member or a community supporter, your time helps us expand our impact and continue serving Calgary’s neighbourhoods.
