How does The Centre Lions Club serve the community and the surrounding areas?

WE:

Have broom & mop sales year round, and at special events such as the Centre Fall Festival and other annual days to supplement the many projects we fund.   

WE:

Host the annual Lions Radio Day in the autumn, in conjunction with WEIS Radio 990, to showcase businesses and give Leo Club high school students the opportunity to test their broadcast skills on live radio.

 

WE:

Collect used eyeglasses for recycling and for worldwide distribution.  We have eyeglass boxes in several locations around town.

                                                       

WE:

Hold the annual Centre Lions Pancake Day fundraiser in the spring.

WE:

Sponsor the Leo Club, and send two club members to the state youth leadership forum each year.

 

WE:

Sponsor the annual John L. Ellis, Sr. Youth Leadership Forum for local high school juniors and seniors early in the year.

 

WE:

Annually fund five $500.00 scholarships for outstanding high school seniors.

 

WE:

Arrange for hearing and vision tests as needed.  In recent years we performed vision screening at the Leesburg Yarn Mills Health Fair and at Centre First United Methodist Church.

 

WE:

Help those in need of eye exams and purchase glasses for them, as needed. 

WE:

Participate in The Alabama Adopt-A-Mile Program!

WE:

Annually, we participate with the Nettie King Brown Christmas Clearinghouse, Inc., to sponsor shopping events for ten children.

                                  

                                       

 

WE:

We support Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes, by preparing 4 or 5 each year in November to send to children overseas.

WE:

Support Camp Seale Harris by sending a diabetic youth to Diabetic Youth Camp which teaches the child to manage his/her diabetes.

WE:

Assist and support other community groups, and state and international disasters through the years.  Lion helping  to build  and install handicap ramps.


 

We:

The Centre Lions support other organizations serving others.  Centre Lions assisting Sleep in Haeavenly Peace organization that provide beds for children, " no child should have to sleep on floor".
