Meetings

We presented the 2nd annual scholarship award to Madison Oliver.  Madison will attend Sienna Heights in the fall in her quest for a career in nursing.

Following a presentation by Charlie and Justine Wahl, directors of Frontline Youth Center, the Club voted to sponsor this worthwhile project.  The center targets "at risk" children, but they also offer all teens a safe place to spend time, play games, study and hang out.  The center runs entirely on donations - time, money, materials, food....

Doris Bauer and Dorothy Schultz are chairing White Cane Collections scheduled for May 2 - 3.

We are currently taking orders for our annual Vidalia onion sale fundraiser.  Cost: $10/10 pound bag; $20/25 pound bag.

Zone Chairman Jim Souder spoke to Club members about the value of doing the Club Excellence Initiative.  Both club and community members are being surveyed in order to help us serve the community more effectively.

Lion President Tom Hayes introduced and welcomed Clinton Community School Superintendent Sean McNatt to the December meeting.  Mr. McNatt shared details about his personal and professional backgrounds as well as his vision for public education.  He focused on his personal passion for reading and commitment to ensure that all students graduate with core reading skills and fundamental tools necessary to excel in this essential discipline.  As the instructional leader for Clinton schools, he is dedicated to providing proper opportunities for all students to succeed.

The Club donated $100.00 to the school district to help him and his staff pursue initiatives that will assist students who have vision issues.

District Governor Barry Allen inducted Jeffrey Scott, Melanie Scott, Doug Caron, and Judy Caron into the Club.

PDG Dick Dettling inducted Dorothy Schultz, Doris Bauer, Lisa Hayes and Greg Hayes.

Sadly, the Club reluctantly accepted the resignation of three charter members:  Delores Simpson, Dennis Simpson and Lois Minor.  All three were actively involved in the successful launch of the Clinton Lion Club and will be greatly missed.  Governor Barry Allen presented the three with President's Pins and formal Certificates of Recognition.  He thanked them and expressed his appreciation for their time and efforts.
