Student Speaker Contest

The Diamond Bar Breakfast Lions Club is proud to host an annual Student Speaker Contest. The Contest is open to any high school age student residing in the area of the Walnut Valley Unified School District and the Pomona Unified School District. Private school and home-schooled students are also welcome to participate in the Contest.

California Lions Clubs have hosted a Student Speaker Contest each year since 1938. The purpose of the Contest is to provide high school age students the opportunity to compete for scholarships while developing their public speaking skills. The Contest also provides a forum for discussion and education on a topic of interest to the general public. The topic for each Student Speaker contest is usually announced in early January, and Club-level contests must be held no later than mid-February.

The winning speakers at the local Club level are then eligible to compete at the Zone, Region, District, Area and finally State level. Scholarships are for college expenses and are paid directly to the college at which the student speaker is enrolled.  Additional information on the management of the annual Student Speaker Contest is available at: md4lions.org/studentspeakers

Anyone interested in competing in the Diamond Bar Breakfast Lions Club Student Speaker Contest is encouraged to contact the Club at their earliest convenience.
