First I will list some of the ways in which we raise funds for the charities:

  • We run the Dunnville Home and Garden show
  • We sell Christmas trees at the Home Hardware store
  • We canvass on street corners and in store fronts for causes like the Dunnville food bank and the Diabetes association
  • We host the Lobsterfest each spring
  • We run a food vending booth at the Mudcat festival
  • We provide the chicken barbecue also at the mudcat festival
  • We build and enter floats for prize money in different parades and at the Haldimand motors annual trike race
  • The Lioness perform a murder mystery dinner evening
  • The Lioness host the “Breakfast with Santa” at the arena complex
  • Various outlets in town have “Lions mints” for sale at their counters
  • We run a Nevada draw
  • People who value the clubs service have made bequeaths of some estate funds

The funds we raise are applied to local, national and worldwide causes. Some of our causes are typically annual preset amounts while others go to specific needs as they arise. We are constantly receiving requests from associations and individuals that could use our support. Our executive review each request and they are considered and addressed as best we can, within our budget. Here are some of our typical recipients:

  • Diabetes Association
  • Guide Dogs
  • White cane club
  • River Arts
  • Mudcat Festival
  • Skateboard Park
  • Dunnville Lions Pool
  • Dunnville highschool scholarships
  • Dunnville youth basketball and soccer
  • Dream team
  • Camp Dorset
  • Camp Lake St. Joseph
  • Lions International Youth exchange
  • Slot racing

We have also helped the autism society and others with more personal health related needs within the last year.

The Dunnville Lions club is actively seeking new members. The core of the membership is getting older and that limits the participation that can be expected. The healthier the club is…the better prepared we are to serve the community. Please consider joining our group of dedicated Dunnville volunteers.
