Diabetes is a disease that is becoming a bigger problem in our society and is one of the leading causes of death - 422 million adults worldwide have diabetes.

Becoming aware of the symptoms and diagnosing early is very important. Once diagnosed there is no cure for diabetes only management. Type 1 (lack of insulin) cannot currently be prevented. Type 2 (ineffective use of insulin) can be prevented.
Several signs of high blood sugar are increased thirst, headaches, frequent urination, weight loss, fatigue, blurred vision and yellow under feet. Three important yearly exams for diabetes patients are Hemoglobin, blood lipids and kidney function exam.
When carbohydrates are digested they turn to sugar, so it’s not just sweets that have to be taken into consideration. Make sure your dinner plate is half filled with fruits and vegetables. And that you get 30 minutes of exercise each day.
PREVENTION is key...diet and physical activity play a key role! Take the Prediabetes Risk Test at https://www.cdc.gov/prediabetes/takethetest/
