 WHEREASLion’s of Fairview, Oklahoma mission statement is the same as International Lion’s “To create and foster a spirit of understanding among all people for humanitarian needs by providing voluntary services through community involvement and international cooperation”

WHEREAS, the recognition of Fairview Lion’s as an organization making a difference in Fairview, Major County and in Oklahoma as a noteworthy event being recognized by the Lion’s of District 3a, Oklahoma and Lion’s International President Mahendra Amarasuriya ;

WHEREAS, Fairview Lion’s as a chapter was chartered June 27, 1928 is celebrating Eighty years of service to Fairview, Major County and Oklahoma ;

WHEREAS, Fairview Lion’s is proud to boast having members Charles Slack, Jack Libby, Lealand Pratt and Jim Wilson to serve as Oklahoma’s District 3A Governor coming from its eighty + membership and representing Fairview, Major County and Oklahoma ;

WHEREAS, Fairview is proud to boast of one (1) chapter of Lion’s International ;

WHEREAS, the Fairview, Oklahoma Lion’s has several projects in which they sponsor or participates in, to assist in such as eyeglasses and exams for needy, Okla. Eye Bank, Okla. Boy’s Ranch, Leader Dog for the Blind, Lion’s Club International Foundation, Campaign Sight First II, Oklahoma Lion’s Mobile Screening Unit , Fairview Educational Fund, Summer Youth Programs, “Relay for Life” for American Cancer Society, Sponsor of Cub Scouts, May as Eyeglasses recycle month, Fairview Band Boosters, Hunter Education course, 6th Grade Pee-Wee Basketball Tournament for 57 years, Pee-Wee Track Meet, honor and recognize Fairview’s student of the week, Four Scholarships yearly for Fairview Students, Gloss Mountains Cruisers Car Show, Supper at Homecoming, Emergency Generators for the Fairview Fire Department, “Move the Train” Project with the Fairview Masons, Benefit dinners for individuals, Christmas Baskets for needy, Christmas Parade, Christmas Lighting Contest ;

 Now, therefore, I, Kenneth Carmack, Mayor of the City of Fairview, do hereby proclaim the month of June, 2008 as :              

                                                                           FAIRVIEW LION’S 80th ANNIVERSARY MONTH 

in Fairview and urge all citizens to become more aware of the wholesome support and the wonderful service this organization provides to Fairview, Major County and Oklahoma.
