Florence, Oregon

Thanks to all who worked so diligently to make the Lions sponsored Car Show 2024 during Rhody Weekend a great success this year!!  It took many hours of car show enthusiasts help and planning, as well as our own Lions.  And, thanks to all who turned out in support! We are now looking forward to our next big event coming up, which is our Bass Fishing Tournament on June 1 & 2 of 2024 at Siltcoos Lake!!

The Florence Siuslaw Lions Club will be celebrating 75 years of service to this community in 2023.  We are excited about the mission and vision of Lions.

Lions Serve!  We champion kindness in our communities and actively work to improve the lives of people.  Around the world, there are over 48,000 Lions Clubs.  Lions form unique friendships and meaningful connections.  In 1925 Helen Keller addressed Lions at the Lions International Convention and challenged Lions to become "knights of the blind in the crusade against darkness."  This began a century-long mission impacting many lives through our vision-related work.  Lions International has identified five primary focus areas for service by Lions worldwide.  They are: Diabetes, Vision, Hunger, Environment and Childhood Cancer.

Florence Siuslaw Lions serve in a variety of ways in our community.  Some examples:

  • Provide vision testing and eyeglasses to qualified individuals.
  • Provide hearing tests and hearing devices to qualified individuals.
  • Collect donated eyeglasses and hearing devices at various locations in our community.
  • Provide vision screenings to elementary school students in conjunction with the Oregon Sight & Hearing Foundation.
  • Award scholarships to qualified high-school students.
  • Host bass fishing tournament.
  • Participate in a variety of local community events such as Rods N Rhodies, Pumpkin Give-away, and more.
  • Provide American flags to first graders in our elementary school.
  • Provide service/donation to address hunger and need in our community.
  • Donate new books to the library for the youth in our community on important topics.
  • Sponsor the Car Show on Rhody Weekend at the Middle School.
  • Invite community speakers to our meetings to keep informed.
