FLORENCE SIUSLAW LIONS

Florence, Oregon

Visit us also on our Facebook page:  Florence Siuslaw Lions.

The Florence Siuslaw Lions will be celebrating 79 years of service to this community in 2026.  We are excited about the mission and vision of Lions.

Lions Serve!  We champion kindness in our communities and actively work to improve the lives of people.  Around the world, there are over 48,000 Lions Clubs.  Lions form unique friendships and meaningful connections.  In 1925 Helen Keller addressed Lions at the Lions International Convention and challenged Lions to become "knights of the blind in the crusade against darkness."  This began a century-long mission impacting many lives through our vision-related work.  Lions International has identified primary focus areas for service by Lions worldwide.  They are: Diabetes, Sight and Hearing, Hunger, Environment, Youth, and Childhood Cancer, Mental Health, and Humanitarian Support.

Florence Siuslaw Lions serve in a variety of ways in our community.  Some examples:

  • Provide vision testing and eyeglasses to qualified individuals.
  • Provide hearing tests and hearing devices to qualified individuals.
  • Collect donated eyeglasses and hearing devices at various locations in our community. (See Contact page for more information).
  • Provide vision screenings to elementary school students in conjunction with the Oregon Sight & Hearing Foundation.
  • Award scholarships to qualified high-school students.
  • Participate in activities that support a healthy environment.
  • Host annual bass fishing tournament.
  • Participate in a variety of local community events such as serving from our food cart at the Rhody Fest, Pumpkin Give-away, and more.
  • Provide American flags to first graders in our elementary school.
  • Provide service/donation to address hunger and some other needs in our community.
  • Support youth in our community on various projects.
  • Serve at the Free Lunch Program at the United Methodist Church.
  • Club support for disaster preparedness projects.
  • We invite community speakers to our meetings to keep informed typically on the 3rd Tuesday night each month.
  • Lions foster friendships with Club socials.
  • AND MUCH MORE!!!  WE HAVE FUN WHILE WE SERVE!
