Camp Marcella

The Green Brook Lions became involved with Camp Marcella about a decade ago.  Long before we became aware of the Camp, Lions Clubs from across the state have been working with a wide variety of volunteers, government agencies, and non-profits to deliver a truly memorable camp experience to hundreds of children.  Many have some degree of visual impairment, and some have other disabilities as well.

Each of the cabins is maintain by a local Lions Club, and the overall operation of the Camp is overseen by a Board of Directors from various Lions Clubs.  Over the past few years, the Camp has teamed up with Easter Seals, in an effort to improve the quality of the experience and expand the number of children attending.

Each cabin houses a number of campers, as well as a group of counselors who assist the children.  The Green Brook Lions Club has recently taken over the maintenance of a cabin, including normal cleaning, painting, installing curtains, and so on.

Recently, Carpet Exchange of Green Brook donated carpet to be used in the gathering room of the cabin.

Green Brook Lions cooked for campers at Camp Marcella in August of 2018.
