Dear Friends of the Haverhill Lions Club,

The Haverhill Lions Club humbly asks for your support to ensure that we can meet the challenges we face.

We have not been immune to the adverse effects of the Covid pandemic. Our motto is “We Serve,” and for the past two years we have been able to live up to that motto by thinking outside the box and donating our time. Our charitable efforts, however, have suffered. We have been unable to hold our major fundraising events. Our “Breakfast with Santa”, at which we served 500 meals, has not been able to take place for the past two years.  Even our raffles have suffered because it is difficult to interact with people. But we “ROAR” on. We still managed to collect and donate 500 pairs of eyeglasses for those in need. We advocated for a Haverhill family in need of a ramp for their physically challenged eight-year-old daughter and facilitated contact with an organization that has committed to building it. Score one for effort! Once a month, we assist the Brown Bag program in packing 500 bags of food for the elderly through AgeSpan (Formerly Elder Services of Merrimack Valley).

Unfortunately, we have not been able to provide our vision screenings, which help children and adults avoid preventable blindness. Good vision helps children be more successful in school. We desperately need funds to aid our Campership program for the Haverhill Boys and Girls Club, and our Military and High School Scholarships. We’ve used emergency funds to support the Mass Lions Eye Research Foundation (MLERF), the main thrust of Lions Clubs throughout Massachusetts.

With your help we can continue to assist the community with: Vision Screenings, Food Drives, Diabetes Awareness, Youth Programs and Scholarships and Environmental Cleanups. We also assist the uninsured in obtaining vision exams and eyeglasses. This is just a short list.

Rest assured that whatever your donation, 100% of the money goes to ensure the Haverhill Lions Club can continue to help meet the needs of the community. Perhaps you might even consider becoming a member and experience the joy of bringing a smile to someone’s face. I encourage you to explore our social media: Website, Facebook, and Instagram pages.

Thank you kindly for your consideration of donating to the charitable efforts of the Haverhill Lions Club.

Your generosity will touch people’s lives.

Sincerely,

Laurie Cantwell
Past President & Marketing Communications Chairperson
