• Under the able guidance of Lion Dr.Wansanatha Ariyadasa of Lions Club of Homagama , LIONS CLUB OF KOTTAWA CENTRAL was formed.
• More than Rs. 25,000 which was collected by the maiden souvenir was collected for school welfare project.
• A blood donation camp was organised and 100 pints of blood was donated to the blood bank
• A health camp was organized at the Purana Viharaya in Makumbura for the benefit of the community.

• More than Rs.25,000/= collected by the sovenier of  ''SINGHA GEE MIHIRA''  for social welfare projects.
• A blood donation camp was organized at Ananda vidyalaya kottawa and 110 pints of blood was donated to the blood bank.
• A health camp was oraganized at he Purana Vihara in Makumbura where about 160 people were benefited.
• Short eats and a glass of milk was donated each month to the pensioners who came to the Kottawa Post ofice to collect their Pension. This was continued throughout the year.

• Books and stationary was  donated to the students of the Daham Pasala at the Makumbura Purana Maha Viharaya.
• A blood Donation camp was organized at Dharmapala College Pannipitiya where 102 pints of Blood was donated to the Blood bank.
• Food rations, stationary, medicine and other equipment worth of Rs 1.5 Million were donated to people in welikanda who suffered the aftermath of insurgency.
• An awareness programme on Aids was launged for Army personnel of Mattegoda Camp.
• Short eats and a glass of milk was donated each month to the pensioners who came to the Kottawa Post ofice to collect their Pension. This was continued throughout the year.

• Books stationary and other school equipment was donated to students of Udagankanda & Wevala Junior schools.
• Foundation stone was laid for Thisarana Sarana Elders home. This project was initiated by late Lion P. J. G. Attanayake and was coordinated by Lion Piyal weerasinghe of Mawanella Lions club. The project was funded by Mr. Smith from Netherlands.
• Short eats and a glass of milk was donated each month to the pensioners who came to the kottawa Post ofice to collect their Pension. This was continued throughout the year.

• '' Thisarana Saran Elders home ''  was declared open by Mr. Smith of Netherland
• Awareness programmes on Aids were launged for Army personnel in various Army Camps.

• A blod donation camp was organized at Dharmapala Vidyalaya Pannipitiya and was able to donate 104 pints of Blood to Sri Jayawardanapura Hospital.
• To mark the admission of inmates to Thisarana Sarana Elders Home. Whole night Pirith was organized followed by sanghika Danaya to invoke blessings to the departed members of the Lions Club.
• Two Dental camps were organized to students of Kottawa Ananda Vidyalaya and Kottawa Dharmapala Vidyalaya.
• The play ground of Purwarama Junior School in Nugegoda was reconstructed for the benefit of the students.

• Books, stationary , gifts and Breakfast and lunch was donated to the inmates of Rukmale Childrens’  home.
• The play ground of Kottawa north Dharmapala Vidyalaya was reconstructed and modern Sports equipment and exercise books were donated.
• Medicine was donated to the Army personell who were in the battle field fighting for out country, along with spectacles and hearing aids for the poor and needy in the North and
  East .

• Was able to collect Rs 7000 for the helpage flag day.
• A blood donation camp was organised which enabled to donate 106 pints of blood to the Sri Jayawardanapura Hospital.
• A Herbal garden was constructed to Makumbura Comunity in Malapalla.
• A dental Camp was organized at Sucharithodaya Childrens home in Pamunuwa.
• Book donation was organized to donate exercise books to selected 100 school children in the Kottawa area
• program was launched to award educational scolarships to needy students of the Kottawa area under the foreign aids

•  A Mortercycle race was organized at kottawa grounds in Kulasewana sevana Mawatha and the funds were donated to Hope Hospital Building Fund at Cancer Hospital Maharagama.
• A blood donatoon camp was organized at Kottawa Dharmapala Vidyalaya which enabled to donate 106 pints of blood to the National Hospital in aid of the soldires who suffered in war.
• A health Camp was organized for the welfare of about 280 people in Pitigala in Galle District.
• Book donation was organized to donate exercise books to selected 100 school children in the Kottawa area
• program was continued to award educational scolarships to needy students of the Kottawa area under the foreign aids

• Funds raised at ‘' Kottawa Motocross '' Motor Bicycle race , were donated to the Hope Hospital Building fund at Cancer hospital Maharagama.
• 475 Elders from all Gramasewa divisions in Maharagama were felicitated and was provided with breakfast , lunch and dinner and also gifts.
• Kottawa Metro Lions Club was initiated.Book donation was organized to donate exercise books to selected 100 school children in the Kottawa area

• Donated a trolly for the Endroscopy Machine valued Rs. 50,000  for the base hospital in Homagama.
• RS.50,000  was donated to the building fund of Kottawa Dharmapala Vidyalaya.
• “An activity day ” was organized with TV Artist of “Kopi kade “ at the '' CharlesRoslin Elders home “ to mark the elders day.Inmates were able to perform on stage and were provided with the three meals and numorous gifts
• A Health camp was held for about 2000 people in Pitigala in Kalutara District.
• Book donation was organized to donate exercise books to selected 100 school children in the Kottawa area
• program was continued to award educational scolarships to needy students of the Kottawa area under the foreign aids.
• SINHAMELA TRADE EXHIBITION & CARNIVAL was held and collected  Rs 200000.00 as fund raising
• Donated 100 spectacles to needy students at Kottawa Ananda vidyalaya After consultation of optometrist.
• Donated 100 gift packs for new born infants at Homagama Basic Hospital.
• A blood Donation Camp was organized at the Kottawa junction and 109 blood pints collected by Sri Jayawardanepura Hospital.

• Divulankada tank was reconstructed for the benefit of 2000 families who suffered from severe drought in the Dry Zone.
• Kohomba and Pihimbia trees were planted along High Level Road in Makumbura to Homagama  mark the National Tree planting day.
• An Art Exhibition of Childre in 46 Pre schools in Maharagama area was held at President’s College Maharagama where gifts were awarded.

• Dry provisions, clothes and other immediate needs donated to Tsunami victims at Ampara & Galle Districts.

• A health Camp was organized at Mitiyagoda Purana Viharaya for about 350 people.
• 40 needy students selected from various schools in the Kottawa were provided with Monitory funds whereas books were donated to 75 needy students.

• A furnished house was donated to a needy family in Udawalawe.
• Monitory assistance was provided for 50 students of the area and school books were donated to 100 students

• Organized a High Level Motor Rally 2009 to build up the image of Lionism..
• An awareness Programme was launched to the female inmates of the Welikada Prison.
• Donated Uniforms to 150 students at Sucharitha Dhamma School in Katukurunda also gifts were donated to the teachers.
• International women's day celebration program seminar was conducted at National Youth Centre Maharagama with 100  participants. 

• ·A water tank with neccesarry rquipment and  a modern computer were donated to the Daraniyagala Kehelwala Junior School.
• Clothes worth of 10 Lacks were donated to the people in Refugee camps in North East.
• A felicitation programme ( Amara Sara Sarani ) was organized to felicitate the Mastro W.D Amaradewa.
• Dental Camp was organized and project to provide legal advice to the needy was launged in Homagama District.
• Rabies Vaccine given to Stray dogs in the Morawaka Area.
