Mississauga Credit Valley Lions Club

2017 is the 100th Anniversary of Lions Clubs International and the 80th Anniversary of The Mississauga Credit Valley Lions club.
The Mississauga Credit Valley Lions Club is part of the world’s largest service organization. Lions ClubsInternational has 1.35 million members in more than 206 countries.  Lions are perhaps best known for fighting blindness but we also volunteer for many different kinds of community projects – including caring for the environment, feeding the hungry and aiding seniors and the disabled.
It takes a special breed of person to become a Lion. Someone not afraid to work with others in the community with the common goal of making it a better place to live. Someone willing to give their time to ease the day to day challenges of those among us who are suffering or impoverished.

Vision Statement: To be a global leader in the community and humanitarian service.
Mission Statement:  To empower volunteers to serve their communities, meet humanitarian needs, encourage peace and understanding through Lions Clubs.
Motto: "We serve" - we mix some very serious business into our Lions fellowship.

Each year, through various fund-raising activities, almost $60,000 is accumulated to finance projects which we consider to be important to our community and the worldwide Lions service activities.

Over the years our club has had many achievements:

  • Instrumental in the campaign to build the first hospital in what is now the city of  Mississauga.  Over $1 million dollars has since been donated to the city’s hospitals.
  • Established the campaign to build the Clarkson Arena and community centre.
  • Supported the Lions Club Dog Guide School in Oakville for many years.
  • Supported The Lions Club International Foundation in its relief efforts in international disasters.
