Welcome to the Ocala Lions Club

Celebrating 100 years of service  1926-2026

Established on March 19, 1926, the Ocala Lions Club is one of the oldest continuously serving Lions Clubs in Florida. For a full century we have lived our motto — We Serve — by supporting vision health, helping children and families in need, and strengthening our community.

A cornerstone of our work is the KidSight Program, a free vision screening service for preschool children ages 1–6. Using specialized digital equipment, we can detect early signs of amblyopia (“lazy eye”) and other vision problems in less than a second — from three feet away, with no eye drops and no contact. Last year alone, Ocala Lions screened nearly 2,100 children. Those who need further evaluation are referred to eye-care professionals.

This simple screening can change the course of a child’s life.

We are happy to schedule KidSight screenings for groups of six or more preschoolers at your location.

Throughout our 100 years, Ocala Lions have also provided eyeglasses and hearing aids, supported disaster relief, awarded scholarships, supplied school clothes and toys through Silent Santa and Take Stock in Children, and sponsored community events such as the Savage Family 5K.

We invite you to learn more about our projects, meet our members, or join us in service. Together we continue the crusade against darkness — and celebrate a century of making a difference in Marion County.
