Meetings

The Plain City Lions Club offers three classes of scholarships to Jonathan Alder Students and Alumni. One is to a graduating senior, one is to a graduating LEO and one is to an alumni. Please complete the appropriate application.  Those not completing the appropriate form may not be accepted for consideration.

 

Graduating seniors:

The Plain City Lions club is again giving out a scholarship to a graduating Jonathan Alder senior based upon need and demonstrated academic and civic accomplishments.It will be awarded at the Senior Awards night held each year at the high school. See the JA Guidance Councilor for an application or print, complete and submit the attached JA Senior scholarship application to the Name and Address shown at the bottome of this page by April 22, 2023

LEOs:

Complete the graduating seniors form and clearly mark on the top that you are a member of the LEOs.  You are only eligble for one of the scholarships.  This will be awarded at the Senior Awards night held each year at the high school.

JA Alumni:

This year the Plain City Lions club will award one Five Hundred ($500.00) dollar VOWELL Scholarships to JA Alumni. To be eligible for these scholarships, the alumni must meet the following criteria:

  1. An “Eligible Recipient” shall mean an individual who graduated from Jonathan Alder High School and has satisfactorily completed at least his or her first year of education at an accredited institution of higher learning. Said accredited institution of higher learning may include undergraduate, graduate and professional courses of study.
  2. Scholarships shall be awarded on the basis of academic ability and financial need as determined by the Trustees upon the advice and recommendation of the Advisory Committee.
  3. Notwithstanding that the eligibility criteria may otherwise have been satisfied, the following persons shall nonetheless be ineligible to receive scholarship grants from the Plain City Lions Scholarship Restricted Fund:
    1. Substantial contributors to the Plain City Lions Scholarship Restricted Fund or to the Ohio Lions Foundation,
    2. Trustees or officers of the Ohio Lions Foundation,
    3. Members of the Plain City Scholarship Committee,
    4. Directors or officers of the Plain City Lions Club,
    5. “Members of the family of any of the foregoing persons. For purposes hereof, the members of a person’s family shall include members spouse, ancestors, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and the spouses of tmembers children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

If you meet the above criteria and want to apply for the scholarship, please print and complete the attached Vowell Scholarship application.  Return the completed application by June 25, 2023 to:
