July of 2018 marks a major milestone for Springfield Host Lions as they join with Springfield Queen City Lions Club to create a new and stronger Lions Club for Springfield, MO.  Together, the club will better represent the community and provide more services more efficiently!  We look forward to  an exciting year as the merged clubs are welded together into a growing and active service club!

Often referred to as the "Duck Pond Lions!  Every year since 1949, Springfield Host Lions have operated a Duck Pond at the Ozark Empire Fair as its major fundraiser for providing community services in Springfield and Greene County, Missouri.  All money raised is rspent for service projects!

About 1/3 of the club budget is spent for eyeglasses and sight projects, 1/3 for funding Lion sponsored organizations that serve a wider area and about 1/3 for providing other services in Springfield.

Chartered as the Springfield Lions Club, September 7, 1921, the club has sponsored at least nine other clubs, including the newest:  The Christian County Lions Club, meeting in Nixa and Ozark, MO.  2016 marked the 95th year of our club.

The Clubs mission includes:    Providing eyeglasses and hearing aids for needy persons;    sponsoring the 4th Grade + Lions = Teamwork projects in 2 classrooms to help students understand blindness, eyecare and to meet blind persons in the community; eyeglass recycling, and soon, new projects to reflect the expawnded club..

The Lions History Walk is a long term project in Nathanael Greene Park that memorializes "Americans Who Have Made A Difference".  Thirty-five stones explain the contributions of Melvin Jones, Helen Keller, George Washington Carver, Harry S Truman and many others who contributed to a better society.  The 2018 stone is dedicated tocombat pilot, test pilot,  astronaut and distinguished US Senator John Glenn.
