About The Thornbury Beaver Valley Lions Club

The Thornbury Beaver Valley Lions Club is made up Community minded people who enjoy serving the greater good.  We understand the importance of being  responsible citizens of the world.  Together with the many clubs that make up Lions International, our club can contribute both locally and internationally. Here is what some of our members have to say about Our Club:

Well if you are a person that likes to help others then you need not look any further, this is the club for you. Lions club`s are world wide and they help in disasters all over the world. our club provides help in our town and villages where ever possible.

Helping others where possible. paying dues to International along with all the other clubs in the world so they have the money to help out in disasters around the world.

The club was inducted on Sept. 22 1984 and we are very proud of our newly inducted members.

A chance encounter at The Marsh Street Community and a conversation with Bob McGirr brought my husband and I to The Thornbury Beaver Valley Lions Club.  My husband and I sat in on a few meetings to see what they did.  We were suitably impressed by the intensity of their desire to serve the Community.

We are now serving our community as active Lions members since the fall of 2010 in ways that are heartfelt and gratifying.  Our fellow members are great people to be with and we look forward to our meetings the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of every month.  We enjoy a meal and social interaction with these magnanimous people.

We promote the Thornbury Beaver Valley Lions Club every chance we get.  We are a group that like to help everywhere that we can to make a difference in people’s lives which in turn impacts all citizens of the world and makes this a better place to live.  It is indeed a privilege and an honor to be Lion members.

I became involved with Community Service activity over 40 years ago.  I have been an active Lion for over 25 years and I cannot conceive of not being active in the Lion's family.  For me, membership in this organization has meant meeting with many new friends, many of which I retain close ties and will, for my lifetime.  The fellowship, the social events, the many projects and the experiences of helping those who are less fortunate, or temporarily need a hand up, exhilarate me.  I enjoy sharing my skills and resources to help make someones life a little easier/better.  My life has been influenced by living the vision and the goals of Lionism. I serve!
