Relay For Life at Wyndham - A Team Event to Fight Cancer

Relay for Life is a fun, outdoor and overnight 24 hour fundraising event where teams of 10 to 40 plus people take turns to walk around a local oval. The event honours those whose lives have been touched by cancer. Celebrate life and create hope by joining your friends, family, cancer survivors and their carers in the common goal of defeating cancer.  The aim of the event is for team members to carry a baton around the athletic track for 24 hours without the baton stopping.  At all times there must be at least one team member on the track.

The Lions Club of Werribee has entered a team in the 2024 event and is now seeking sponsorship and commitment from Lions, partners, family and friends to help make the 2024 event the best one yet.

The Club would appreciate any donations towards their fundraising program. Enquiries and donations are welcomed and can be emailed to the Club.

The 2024 Wyndham Relay For Life event will be held on 23 March 2024, from 11am to 11pm, at the Victoria Universary Athletic Track, Hoppers Lane, Hoppers Crossing Vic 3029.

From Previous Relay For Life Event

The Lions Club of Werribee has entered a team in the Wyndham events each year since 2006 and have vowed to be back again next year to help raise funds for this most worthy event.   2024 will be the nineteenth year the Club has participated in the Relay For Life event.  The 2022 walkathron was held at the Athletic Track in Hoppers Lane, Werribee on 30 April and consisted of about 33 teams from the local area. The combined effort of all teams raised more than $72,646 towards cancer research, education and support programs, of which the Werribee Lions Club contributed $4,524.

The Werribee Lions Team had 26 walkers over the 10 hour event, 10 Lions, 10 Family Members and 9 Friends. One of the highlights was the Candlelight Ceremony at night where candles were lit and positioned around the walking track in memory of those lost to cancer and to show support for those living with cancer.
