4TH OF JULY PARADE
The BJ Lions participated in the 4th of July Parade for the second straight year. This year's theme was "Trains". Tom & Rosi Wierzba again spearheaded this years parade with Rosi dressing up as the official Lion mascot, she was the hit of the parade. This year the Lions handed out candy to the kids and also treats for the dogs.
BJ Bi-ANNUAL BLOOD DRIVE
Lion Chuck Janata again headed up the BJ bi-annual blood drive at the Community Center in June. This is Chuck's 6th consecutive year of heading up this event.
LIONS SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS- JUNE 2011
The scholarship committee recently selected Haley Hiller, Ginger Kumpula, Andrew Lawrence, Courtney Smith, John Weston, and Nikkole Wuestenhages as the Boulder Junction Lions Club recipients of scholarships for the Lakeland Union High School 2011 graduating seniors.
Haley is the daughter of Chris and Barbra Hiller of BJ and plans to attend UW-Madison.
Ginger is the daughter of Gary and Joann Kumpula of BJ and plans to attend UW-Madison.
Andrew is the son of Robert and Jill Lawrence of BJ and plans to attend Carthage College.
Courtney is the daughter of Susan Ziebert of BJ and plans to attend Norhtern Michigan Univ.
John is the son of James and Dana Weston of BJ and plans to attend Michigan Technological Univ.
Nikkole is the daughter of Maggie and Sonny Wuestenhagen of BJ and plans to attend UW-River Falls.
The Scholarship committee also recognized Nicole Bjork of Boulder Junction as the recipient of the Betty Henrichs Scholarship Award. Nicole is the daughter of Mark and Julie Bjork of BJ. Nicole plans to attend Montana State University in the fall.
CHICKEN AND PORK STEAK DINNER- SAT. MAY 28, 2011
The Boulder Junction Lions Club would like to thank the community for their support of this years annual Pork and Chicken dinner which was held Sat. May 28th. The exceptional turnout (almost 300 were served) was wonderful to see, even though the chicken ran out, but there will be more next year. Thank you all.
SPAGHETTI DINNER- SAT. APRIL 9, 2011
The 4th Annual Funding the Future of our Kids Spaghetti Dinner held Sat. April 9th was very successful. The Lions served nearly 200 people with a sumptuous spaghetti dinner with garlic bread, salad, and various desserts. The funds enabled the Lions to sponsor 2 students from North Lakeland Elementary School to tour 6 countries in Europe this summer.
LIONS ZONE MEETING- WED. FEB. 16,2011
The Lions Zone Meeting was held at the Community Center in BJ on Feb. 16th. Winchester, Lac Du Flemeau, Presque Isle, Mercer, Manitowish Waters, and BJ Clubs were in attendance. The Executive Director at the Lions' Camp in Rosholt gave an update on the camp.
