Glanford & Lindsey Lions Club

January 2018

Without YOUR help we would not be able to assist the worthy causes we do; so a huge THANK YOU for the support you give us.

During the run up to the Christmas, Glanford and Lindsey Lions Club were busy helping Santa as he went round the villages in the area. We would like to give our thanks for the generous donations you made, hopefully Santa was able to bring the presents everyone wanted!

Again this year we have been able to provide Christmas Hampers to people within the villages and towns we cover. This just our way of showing them that we are thinking of them through the Christmas period.

As in past years the Lions within the British Isles and Ireland have formed partnerships with several worthy causes, these include; Marie Curie, Diabetes UK, Cerebral Palsy Sport, Blind Veterans UK, MedicAlert, Moorfield Hospital, Gift for Living, English Federation of Disability Sports, Sight Savers, Unicef, Water Aid, plus many local organisations.

Through Lions Clubs International Foundation last year we also provided support to improve education, health care and other critical public services. Provided Disaster Relief for victims of national disasters and helped communities recover from devastating disasters. With the aid of Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, we provided over 17,400,000 vaccinations for children to aid against Measles & Rubella and delivered sight care services which have benefitted 22,300,000 people throughout the world.

We operate an initiative called Message in a Bottle which some of you will be aware of. This is where we will provide a plastic bottle top put in your fridge which has medical information about you. With a sicker which is strategically placed the Emergency Services know to go to your fridge to locate this bottle and obtain you medical information. This initiative has now been extended and we can also provide Message in a Wallet.

Our Annual Race Night has been booked for 16th March 2018 at Rebourn Club, Scunthorpe. If you would like to come along and have an enjoyable evening please contact a member of Glanford & Lindsey Lions for details.

With Easter quickly coming upon us, again we are busy preparing for our annual Easter Egg Draw where we will be placing Easter Eggs in local community places giving the opportunity for someone local to benefit from winning our Easter Egg Prices.

This year our Charity Golf Day has been organised for the 25th May 2018, at the usual venue of Holme Hall Golf Club. Hopefully we will have some good weather and an enjoyable competition, whilst raising funds for those less fortunate.
