HILTON HEAD ISLAND NOON LIONS CLUB
PROJECTS
Service Projects
-Camp Leo. In July, we partner with area Lions Clubs to host legally blind children from across South Carolina for one week on Hilton Head Island. Campers are between the ages of 6 and 16.
-The LIONS TAIL at Honey Horn. This is a multi-year project to build not only a rope that blind and sight limited people can use to move around Honey Horn but eventually either a braille or audio system to describe the things that are there.
-Vision and Hearing Screening. In February we host the South Carolina Lions Charitable Services van for one day in support of the Martin Luther King events and three days doing screenings at a local elementary school. Hundreds of young people were screened in 2010.
-Eye Glasses and Eye Exams. Throughout the year we provide free/discounted eye examinations and glasses to those in need.
-Used Eye Glasses. We collect used eye glasses throughout the year for distribution in developing nations.
-Leader Dog and Southeastern Guide Dogs. We provide continuing support for the Leader Dog and Southeastern Guide Dogs programs. These programs provide dogs to those in need.
