Upcoming programs and speakers 2018-2019

October 3, 2018:  Juliana Furtado, One of the most celebrated mountain bike racers in the sport’s history and a three-time World Cup champion and member of the 1996 U.S. Olympic team.  She will speak about her understanding of the profound torment of suicide that can lurk below the surface and shares her harrowing story in hopes to offer others a path to help. Quietly, she’s spent most of her life grappling with suicide and she is speaking out now, for the first time in detail, because the recent high-profile deaths put the epidemic in the news again. Her mother and older sister both died by suicide.  She is the founder and namesake of the Juliana Bicycles brand.  Mercury News, "A Race Against Suicide".
October 10, 2018:  Eleanor Yick, President of the local League of women's Voters.  She will give information about the ballot proposition issues for the election on November 6th.

October 24, 2018:  Superior Court Judge Vanessa Zecher.  Judge Zecher has handled some high profile local cases.  Zecher comes from a family history of accomplished lawyers.  She began her career focusing on family law.  According to some she has brought on controversy in her conduct.  Zecher graduated from Santa Clara in 1984 with a B.A. in philosophy and received her J.D. degree in 1987.
October 31, 2018:  Nick Struthers and Franklin Elieh, Co-founders of Northern California Spine Institute They will give an insight into what is being done and the outlook for those who have spinal problems.
November 7, 2018:  Lisa Fraser, new Superintendent of Loma Prieta
School District, presented and overview of her plans and future goals for the middle School.  Lisa is the former Fisher Middle School prinicpal.
November 14, 2018  Dr. Louis Allamandola, retired senior scientist with the space science division at NASA Ames Research Center, Moffet Field.  He has over 35 years of experience in pioneering laboratory studies on the chemistry, composition, and spectroscopy of interstellar matter with emphasis on organics and interstellar and solar system ices.  He will talk about origin of life on earth.
November 21, 2018: November 21, 2018:  No morning or noon Lions Club meeting.  Getting ready for Thanksgiving.
November 28, 2018:  Pending: Dr. Mike Grove, new superintendent of Los Gatos High School.
December 5, 2018:  Thelma Batilo, Lions 4-C6 District Governor 
December 12, 2018:  Pending: Los Gatos High School Christmas choral program.
December 19, 2018:
December 26, 2018:  No morning or noon Lions Club meeting.  Merry Christmas !!!
