Upcoming programs and speakers 2017

June 6, 2018:  Chief Peter Decena, the new Police Chief of the Los Gatos/Monte Sereno Police Department.  Formerly San Jose State University Chief of Police for 8 years.  Prior to that he was a Police Captain with the San Jose Police Department for 28 years from 1982 to 2010.
June 13, 2018:  Marie Tuite, San Jose State Athletic Director and Head Football Coach, Brent Brennan..
June 20, 2018:  Dr. Tarak El-Sawy, Opthamology specialist.  He will be talking about a broad range of eye procedures.
June 27, 2018:  Out going President Steve Nutting's final meeting as President.  His presentations and tribulations.
July 4, 2018:  No Meeting
July 11, 2018:  Meeting location change:  Annual visit with Boy Scout Troop 539 at Los Gatos Youth Park.  Located behind the High School on New York Ave.  BBQ lunch served $10.  LG Lions are a troop sponsor.
July 18, 2018:  Andy Bernstein, California Slim, musician and author.  Andy will talk about his experiences with famous musicians. He will bring his special bookmobile which features books on well known artists. 
July 25, 2018:  Dr. Gloria Wu, Opthamology expert.  Graduate of Harvard and Columbia University College of Physicians, has written three textbooks and has four copyrights in opthamology and related fields.  You can see her on public access TV show, "Healthtalk" and on Youtube.
August 1, 2018:  Rod DiridonEmeritus Executive Director, Mineta Transportation Institute, known as the “father” of modern transit service in Silicon Valley and has chaired more than 100 international, national, state, and local programs, most related to transit and the environment.  Rod who was the promoter and champion of the VTA slow-moving trolley, is now championing high-speed rail and will inform and give us an up update.  Recent letter to San Jose Mercury news about Rod Diridon and high speed light rail.
August 8, 2018:  Dr. Thomas Griffin, Lt. Colonel, Chairman of the Veteran's Transition Center Board of Directors, of Monterey County.  Dr. Griffin will make his return visit to give us information and how we can help with the annual Homeless Veterans Standdown.  This weekend event is Friday, 10 AM, September 28 to Sunday, September 30,12 noon, at Monterey County Fairgrounds, 2004 Fairgrounds Road. The event includes and provides clothing, furnishings, meals entertainment and a multitude of services for Veterans.  Including medical, dental,claims, legal, couseling, employment and military document reviews.
August 15, 2018  Janet Kramschuster, Executive Director of Diabetes Youth Familes, DYF.
August 22, 2018  Mark Krail, Head Coach, Los Gatos High School Football.  This is the annual visit by the coach to give updates and a preview of the upcoming Wildcat schedule.
August 29, 2018:  Presentation by Stanford Blood Center representative.  SBC is a community blood center that connects local donors to local patients.  They are a leaders in the fields of transfusion and transplantation medicine, supplying essential blood products, testing and transplant matching services to several Bay Area hospitals.  The Los Gatos Lions host a Stanford Blood Drive every year.
September 5, 2018:  Program TBA.  Blood Drive at the Los Gatos Lodge.

September 19, 2018:  Terry Downing, Marketing, Development, and Outreach Manager with the Sharks Foundation Team Build.
