RiverWorks Food Shelf |
RiverWorks is a local non-profit organization that runs the food shelf for the Rockford and Greenfield area. The Rockford Lions provided funding for food and building materials prior to opening its doors in March of 2010. The club continues to financially support and regularly volunteer at the food shelf.
Some facts from RiverWorks for 2010:
- 1,136 of our neighbors visited the food shelf at least once
- 434 people on average were served each month
- 109,445 pounds of food were handed out
- The fastest growing type of person needing assistance from a food shelf is underemployed and/or their hours or pay have been cut
