For the months of November and December, the Club will be meeting via Zoom Video Conference for only one meeting a month.  This will be a combined Board/Regular meeting, on the 2nd Wednesday, at 7 PM.

Since the Journey for Sight walk was canceled, the DG made a marathon by visiting the clubs of Massachusetts.  Club members met the Governor and made donations to benefit the MLERF.  More than $10,000 was raised.

The Michael Brennan Memorial Closest to the Pin Contest was held on Saturday,September 19th.

Because of the wonderful individuals and businesses who donated to this event, it was a great success.  Members braved the cold weather and  worked the event from 8 AM until 5 PM.

Make A Mask Challenge

The Dennis Harwich Lions Make-a-Mask Challenge is pleased to now have a free pick up location for free masks in West Harwich.  The Lighthouse Cafe on Route 28 next to the post office has graciously donated space for our free individually packaged masks.  There is no cost or obligation of any kind.  Masks are one per person. Each recipient must be present to get a free mask.  We are looking for additional locations by businesses throughout the Cape.  A second location will be coming soon in West Dennis by another gracious and  safe-conscious business.

Everyone needs to be wearing a mask to protect themselves and others. The Dennis/Harwich Lions Club is looking for help in making masks now.

All masks will be safely distributed free of cost. One doesn’t have to be a Lion to participate. Those who don’t sew can donate new materials such as 100% cotton cloth, quarter-inch flat elastic, thread, interfacing, plastic bags or cash to supplement donations and associated costs. All donations will be disbursed to charity with no administrative costs.

Our goal is to quickly be able to supply personal masks to anyone on Cape Cod who needs one. Patterns for masks are available online. Those who need or can’t safely find the necessary materials may contact Lion Rick White at We are arranging safe drop-off and pickup locations.

Requests and donations can be made to the Dennis/Harwich Lions Club, memo Make-a-Mask Fund,  P.O. Box 41, Dennisport, MA  02639.

In 2017, the Dennis Harwich Lions Club celebrated 50 years of service to the Cape Cod community and beyond.  We were charted December 13, 1967 by then President John A. MacNaught, Jr. and 50 other men from Harwich and Dennis.  Since then we have sponsored other Lions Clubs in Chatham, Falmouth, and Sandwich.  We just started a new Branch Club in Eastham.  We now have 34 members, both men and women.  We are always looking for new members!

We are well-known for our local service and fundraisers throughout the year.  100% of our donations are returned to the community both locally and internationally including:

  • Sight loss education and prevention
  • Collecting used eyewear and hearing aids which are sent worldwide
  • Diabetes education and research
  • Supporting Massachusetts Lions Eye Research
  • Worldwide Disaster Relief
  • Offer use of Vitrectomy Chair for use after certain eye surgery
  • Support local charities (Salvation Army, Food Pantries, Youth Recreation, Boy Scouts/Girl Scouts).

We support our youth by:

  • Providing eye screening in local schools

Our goal is to "Help Cure Preventable Blindness."  Our fundraising activities include sponsoring the Michael Brennan Closest to the Pin in June, hosting the annual craft fair in July at the Brooks Park in Harwich; and having a booth at the Seaside Festival in October.  We have placed donation canisters in our local businesses to assist with our Pennies for Sight program.
