Eye Glass Donation and Recycling

We can recycle your eye glasses

You can help us and help others in a very easy meaningful way by donating your old or no longer used glasses.  The Lions organization has gained worldwide recognition for our work to improve sight.  It began in 1925 when Helen Keller challenged Lions to become "knights of the blind in the crusade against darkness".  The Lions accepted, and today, sight programs remain one of our defining causes.

The LEO club of Los Gatos Advent Activity Calendar

Check out this special holiday Advent calendar that the Los Gatos High School LEO youth group created. They created a clever well designed website populated with community events, activities and art projects. The calendar also provides advertising and awareness of Los Gatos businesses. The LEO club is a sponsored youth group. Well done and hats off to Lion member advisors Spring Tinsley Myers and Mary Engelbrecht.

Los Gatos Lions Club helping Los Gatos High School implement environmental awareness by removing plastic containers served at the Snack Shack.

The Los Gatos Lions Club has, for many years, stepped up to help out in the community. Now we are taking it a step further by not only continuing our fundraising events for those in need, but also supporting our precious environment. First on the list was to eliminate as much plastic as possible from the Snack Shack at Los Gatos High School home football games. We invested in drink machines, several dispensers, and water filters. We now serve water and Gatorade in compostable cups and lids from our valued supplier, Creative Drinks, Inc.

In 2017, the Lions Club purchased 100 cases of water (3,500 bottles) and 59 cases of Gatorade (1,416 bottles) to sell at the By focusing on our green Initiatives, we purchased ZERO Plastic Bottle Drinksin 2018.

Yes, that's right, we have eliminated 4,916 plastic bottles from Los Gatos garbage and/or recycling bins. Not only did it reduce waste, but our efforts also reduced the carbon emissions from trucking heavy liquids on the highways.

We also reduced the amount of toxic fumes into the air and water that is associated with the production of plastic.

Where do we go from here? Our board approved the newly formed Environmental Awareness Committee. They will be adding a page to our Club website www.e-clubhouse.org/sites/losgatos with ongoing simple tips for everyone to do their part to preserve our environment. Additionally, they will be working to ensure all our events are as eco-friendly as possible.

The Reed Graham Memorial Drinking Fountain

Special tribute and memorial honoring former Lion Reed Graham was installed March 2018, on the Los Gatos Creek Trail, off Miles Ave. The Reed Graham Memorial Drinking Fountain was donated by the Los Gatos Lions Club from funds that were in the Graham memorial fund. Reed was a long time actively involved community member, coached youth sports, joined Lions Club in 1975, Past President in 1985, and chaired the Christmas Parade beginning in 1990. Reed passed away March, 2009. This is a wonderful tribute and memory of Reed. As an added note, Reed marched in the first Christmas parade in 1956.
