LIONS CLEAN UP THE TOWN

On a cold and frosty Sunday morning,  some of our members turned out to clear litter from the stretch of path alongside the Rhyne from Harbour Road to Wyndham Way. 6 bags of rubbish were collected and the path is now more pleasant for people to use.

Lions all over the world are actively involved with environmental issues and along with our bulb planting, we continue to look for ways to improve our town.

We welcome collaboration with other groups and would be happy to hear from anyone who needs additional manpower to achieve their goals.

NEW DEFIBRILLATOR AT BLACK HORSE P.H.

We have installed our 27th Defibrillator at the Black Horse Public House in Clapton in Gordano. Local resident John Miles donated £2,500 towards the cost to purchase and install the defibrillator. The location of the defibrillator is particularly important because of the remoteness of the village. The equipment will give peace of mind to residents and customers of the Black Horse.

We are coming towards the end of our campaign to install Defibrillators in Portishead and surrounding areas within our club's boundary but are looking for donations to fund the ongoing maintenance of the units. If you would like to make a donation please contact Lions Andrew Hill on: andrew@ashburys.co.uk or 01275 818200.

COFFEE MORNING AND DEFIBRILLATION DEMONSTRATION

This was a FREE event we hosted at the Folk Hall to demonstrate the use of defibrillators. We provided tea, coffee and biscuits and members of the club were on hand to talk to attendees about the work of the club. We will be running more events of this kind in the near future.

LIVING WELL TOGETHER

This was a FREE annual event put on jointly by the Portishead Lions Club and the Gordano Breakfast Rotary Club for the benefit of the community.

We believe healthy people are happy people. Why not pop along next year and get your blood sugar levels checked, chat with other health professionals or find out how to operate the numerous defibrillators provided by Portishead Lions Club in and around Portishead.

There were also CPR demonstrations and you can get advice on mental health issues.
