by Donations and Fundraiser Proceeds

In addition to funding our Service and Youth Projects, we have also made contributions to the following Organizations and Causes:


Providing research and support services to Individuals with Vision impairments:
The Lion Vision Research Foundation , The Lions Low Vision Center at Johns Hopkins' Wilmer Eye Institute , Leader Dog Foundation , Maryland School for the Blind , and Medical Eye Bank of Maryland (Eye Bank Association of America)

Providing support for families and individuals facing terminal stage illnesses: Northern Chesapeake Hospice Foundation
(merged with Union Hospital Foundation, effective Jan. 1, 2015)

Providing affordable Health and Medical Services to families and individuals within Cecil and Harford Counties in Maryland as well as nearby Southern Lancaster County in Pennsylvania:
West Cecil Health Center .

 


Providing support for individuals in need of food, clothing, housing or guidance to improve their lives:  Ray of Hope Mission .

Providing support for low-income, elderly and disabled homeowners who need to rebuild or repair their homes:
Christmas in April* Cecil County .
 
 

Providing social, recreational and character building opportunities to the Youth in our community as well as inspiring youth to voluntarily assist with projects and service to their community:
Boy Scout Troop #143 and The Rising Sun Little League .

Providing underprivileged children with school supplies to help them with their education and bagged food so they will be fed on weekends.  Rising Sun Elementary School

Encouraging our youth to be responsible, altruistic and involved volunteers and helping to improve sight around the world:

The Tome School

 
May 19, 2016 - Our 2015-2016 President Ellen Lucas (right) presented a check for $500 and several boxes of used eyeglasses to representatives from The Tome School.  The photo shows five Tome Students with one of the Doctors (center) who accompanied them on their trip to Nicaragua this year as part of the Promise in Sight Brigade.  While there, they assisted in the administration of eye and vision tests, provided support services for  surgeries and distributed eyeglasses to needy individuals.
 
 

Providing recreation and environmental education opportunities to our community:
Fair Hill Nature Center .

 


Providing reading and research opportunities to our community:
Rising Sun Branch of the Cecil County Public Library .

 


Providing emergency services to our community:
The Community Fire Company of Rising Sun .

 


We provide a recreational opportunity to individuals in rehabilitation therapy or long term care while they are Residents at Autumn Lake Healthcare Center at Calvert Manor .

 


We assist qualifying individuals in need of Eye Glasses, Hearing Aids, Eye Surgery, or Dental Surgery who are residents of our community.  Select this link to make a request.
