Club Projects

Eyeglass Collection
To date, our club has collected and recycled more than 25,000 pairs of eyeglasses. We service 15+ locations monthly. A list of our drop-off sites can be found under "Eyeglass Recycling Locations".

Adopt-A-Highway
We help maintain our community by participating in the Adopt-a-Highway program through both the Keep Toledo-Lucas County Beautiful program and ODOT. This is done quarterly.

Scholarships
Multiple applications are received and one graduating high school senior from the Sylvania area is chosen to receive a $1,000 college scholarship based on service and an essay.

Eye Care Assistance
The Sylvania Sunrise Lions Club occasionally receives requests from individuals in the community for eye care assistance. Requests are confidential, however, we do collaborate with other organizations during the evaluation process to access need on an individual basis. After review, a determination is made and a response is provided in a timely manner. If you would like to request assistance, please fill out this form and email to sylvania.lions@gmail.com

Fundraising & Financial Support
The Sylvania Sunrise Lions Club motto is: "We serve"
Our members work on projects designed to prevent blindness, restore eyesight, and improve life for people less fortunate in the community. We serve the local community by assisting organizations which are designed to improve the quality of life for our citizens. The Annual Kelly Miller Circus is our club's main fundraising event and provides us with the financial means to support community organizations. Some of these organizations include:

  • Sylvania Area Family Services
  • Sylvania Community Action Team
  • Lions International
  • Lions Northwest Ohio Eyecare Foundation
  • The Sight Center of Northwest Ohio
  • Sight and Hearing (includes Pilot Dogs)
