PIR 2011

Just finished thanking everyone for working PIR and already we need to gather our workers again. The Phoenix race has been moved to the second race of the season Feb. 24, 25, 26 & 27. The races will be during the day. We need as many Lions and friends to work that are able because WE NEED THE MONEY! This is the last major fundraiser scheduled for this year. We had budgeted for ST. Patrick’s Day, but not sure whether that will happen. If we can staff the race with family and friends to supplement our members, we can keep all of the money for our Lion’s club. There will also be training in February before the race. Attendance is mandatory as it results in each worker earning more money. Please look at your schedules and try to work at least one shift.

RELAY for LIFE

The Sunset Lions have a team for the Relay for Life at the Peoria Sports Complex on Saturday April 30, 2011. The relay goes from 6:00pm until 5:00am on May 1. If you are a survivor, there is a Survivor Social on Feb 16 at 7:00pm at Plaza Del Rio Care Center, 13215 N. 94th, Peoria.

Here is how you can help - Join the team and raise $100. The team is expected to raise $1000. If you can't walk, we walk around the warning track of the baseball diamond, you can man the booth or donate to one of our members.

You can buy a Luminaria for $10 and recognize a survivor or a lost loved one.

You can sell PartyLite candles. 50% of the sale goes to your fundraising total.

You can attend the Hollywood Red Carpet Gala on Feb 12, 6:00 pm. The cost is $15 per person or $25 a couple. Dinner provided by Texas Roadhouse. See Gwen McMichael (gwenmc@cox.net or 602-228-6432 for details or tickets.
