'Rails to Trails' Tree Planting

As part of the Lions Clubs International commitment to environmental service projects, the Porterville Breakfast Lions recently spearheaded a tree planting project to support a 20 acre trail from Henderson Avenue to Olive Avenue. This trail called 'Rails to Trails', maintained by Porterville Parks & Leisure Services, provides an opportunity to walk, jog or bike on paved asphalt with trees, lighted crosswalks, benches and drinking fountains along the way.

Porterville Adult Day Services
Each year, the Porterville Breakfast Lions volunteers to prepare and serve a spaghetti feast to all the participants of the Rockin' for Alzheimer's fund-raiser. This event is a 24 hour rocking-chair-a-thon designed to raise money for those who have Alzheimer's and their caregivers in the community as well as increase awareness about the disease. It is put on by Porterville Adult Day Services which is supported by United Way of Tulare County and Kings/Tulare Area Agency on Aging.

On December 20, 2011 the Porterville Breakfast Lions held their annual Children's Christmas Party. All club members were invited to bring their families to enjoy the holiday breakfast celebration. The event enjoyed a wonderful turnout with 142 members and guests in attendance plus a surprise visit from Santa himself.
Lions are an international network of 1.3 million men and women in 205 countries and geographic areas who work together to answer the needs that challenge communities around the world.
