White Cane Drive-Through Dinner
The drive- through dinner is typically held during the second week of October and is a fundraiser specifically dedicated to individuals in need of eye exams, frames and glasses. Tickets for the event are available from any Lions member.
The Cioppino Dinner has been a backbone fundraiser for over 20 years and is traditionally held on the last Saturday of January. Cioppino is a heavy tomato base sauce that is poured over fish, crab, scallops, and shrimp and served with bread, salad and wine. Raffle prizes and auction items make the evening a community social event.
Freedom Fest Beer Booth
The Lions organize a beer booth at the city sponsored Freedom Fest fireworks show held at the Porterville Sports Complex. All proceeds go to fund area projects. Tickets for drinks are available upon entry to the designated area.
St Patrick’s Day Brewfest
This event is held on the Saturday of St Patrick’s week and has grown to have large local following. Club members ask breweries, big and small, to bring their specialty beers and wines to the event and offer samples to guests who pay a small entry fee. Each year K-TIP radio sets up their stand and broadcasts live from the event. This year was the 7th annual event with proceeds reaching almost $15,000.
Swing for Sight Golf Tournament
'Swing for Sight' golf tournament had its inaugural year in 2012 at River Island Country Club and continues as a well attended, popular event held in late September. All proceeds benefit the Lions sight conservation programs along with Porterville College athletics. Entry fees and lunch are included in a single fee.
