Towcester Lions support Air Ambulance
Two members of Towcester and District Lions travelled to the Air Base of Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance on the 30th January to hand over a donation of £252 from collections made in December 2011 in Towcester.
The helicopter was busy attending a serious accident to the west of the operational area, so it was not possible to meet the aircrew or all members of the paramedic team. However, the visitors were made welcome and shown how the service operates, the area covered and the response times (approx 9 minutes flying time to Towcester).
The visitors were made aware of the continuing need for funds to keep the service in operation. The people of Towcester and District were thanked for their support.

Lions and Vision Youth Café
The mission statement of Vision Youth Café in Towcester is “to give young people aged 11-19 years old, somewhere to go, something to do and someone to talk to!
The support for Vision by local charities, and individuals, has become extremely important due to a lack of core funding opportunities from local councils, and so fund raising events are crucial.
On Friday 27th and Saturday 28th January, the Towcester and District Branch of Lions International were permitted by Tesco to collect at the entrance to their Towcester store.
On Saturday the Lions were joined by young people and volunteers of Vision, who were able to explain the excellent work being carried out for young people. It is hoped that the publicity will lead to more young people using the service and more adults volunteering to help.
The money raised by the Lions this weekend (more than £450 for the Youth Café) is invaluable as it helps Vision to keep open and provide a service that would otherwise be lost to Towcester completely.
