TOWCESTER MIDSUMMER MUSIC FESTIVAL

For the eight year in succession, the Lions combined with the Towcester Town Council, the Rotary Club and the Centurians to organise the Annual Towcester Midsummer Music Festival, held this year on Saturday, 18th June.    As well as providing an excellent evening of fun and entertainment for the people of Towcester and the surrounding villages, the Festival also raises funds for the Town Mayor’s and other local charities.

Musical events were held in nine venues centered around the town’s market square, and performances ranged from Classical to Jazz, from Opera to Rock, from Country Music to a Silver Band, and from a School Choir to a Solo Harpist.     In the market square there was a traditional Street Organ playing familiar tunes to delight the large audience.    Visitors were invited to purchase a “roving ticket” which admitted them to all of the nine musical venues.

Although the main object of the Festival is to provide entertainment for the town, the event did enable the sum of £1,500 to be distributed to local good causes.   These included various Towcester Youth Projects, including the Towcester Vision Youth Café, and the Cynthia Spencer Hospice
